Year: 1946
Tech Notes: This vintage Martin acoustic has been fully inspected, cleaned, and tested. The hardware and electronics are in proper working order, and the fretboard has been cleaned with the frets polished.
There’s some fret wear, most noticeably under the B and high E strings from frets 1–7, but it does not affect playability in any way. The guitar plays cleanly with no fret buzz or choking. Despite the lack of an adjustable truss rod, the neck is set perfectly with minimal relief and a comfortable medium/low action. Intonation is excellent across the entire neck, especially in open chord positions.
This instrument has clearly lived a long musical life, it’s been played extensively and loved for good reason. It shows the honest marks of a players guitar wear with a few dings, cracks, and well-done repairs. It’s been properly maintained and remains a wonderful, responsive player with many more years left ahead.
This guitar delivers a remarkably full, controlled low-end response and sounds much bigger than you’d expect from a traditional 000 body. The tone is beautifully balanced across all strings, from fingerpicking to heavier single note bluegrass picking, making this acoustic incredibly hard to put down.
