1966 Fender Jazz Bass Refin White

1966 Fender Jazz Bass Refin White

1966 Fender Jazz Bass Refin White

SPECS

Weight: 9.8 lbs

Case: Hardshell Case

Year: 1966

Condition: Very good with some various dings/marks/scratches throughout.  Refinish isn't perfect and there are a few areas that show imperfections (see more in the mods/repairs section of our listing).  Small hole on the lower horn.  Some scratching on metal components.  Bit of finish wear on the neck as well.

Tech Notes:

This refinished 1966 Fender Jazz Bass has been thoroughly serviced/inspected. Every component from the body and hardware to electronics was carefully cleaned/tested to and functioning appropriately. Fretboard cleaned and frets polished. Setup with minimal relief and medium‑low action, offering smooth, consistent playability and precise intonation all across the neck.

Dating back to 1966, this bass has been refinished in white and features the era’s characteristic vintage router “hump”, a hallmark of late ’60s Fender instruments. The original pots, stamped (#032567 250k AUD 304 – 6618), align perfectly with the 1966 timeline, and the neck marking (7Aug66A) corroborates its authenticity. All hardware, tuners, electronics, and pickups are original to the instrument. The pickup and bridge ashtray covers, appear original to the best of our knowledge.

This Jazz Bass is a true gem: beautifully maintained, loaded with original 1966 vintage components, and offering a fantastic playing experience. It’s clear this instrument was cherished by its previous owner and has a long life ahead of it!

Mods/Repairs/Issues: A subtle neck ramp was addressed with a full-pocket shim and fret leveling/re-crowning above the 12th fret. This eliminated 90% of the fret buzz that was most noticeable on the high G string. You will still notice the slightest fret buzz on sustained notes in the higher register of the G string, however it isn't audible through an amp and no choke out of notes. The frets appear to be original to the instrument. Additional screw hole from what appears to be a strap button on the other horn (most likely a left handed bassist used at one time).

The refinish has a couple of blem spots, like a slight paint drip near the neck plate, but overall it looks pretty good and doesn’t distract from its vintage character/aesthetics.

Neck Profile: Fender C Standard

Neck Thickness: 1st: 0.84" / 12th: 0.99"

Fingerboard Radius: 7.25"
